Directors’ Forum
Sunday, Oct. 26, 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
Designed for administrative and academic leaders of Executive MBA Programs with five or more years of experience, this half-day session will take place from 11:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 26, at the University of Chicago Gleacher Center, only two blocks away from the conference hotel site.
The Directors’ Forum will feature a networking lunch and a presentation on social networks from social capital expert Ron Burt, professor at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and author of Brokerage and Closure, as well as a panel on corporate partnerships.
Burt will share his work on network analyses to explain the functioning of informal networks and the role of network entrepreneurs who amass social capital, a critical element of business strategy. Increasingly, personal and organizational success depends on understanding and maximizing social capital. Participants will learn more about leveraging their informal relationships.
All participants will receive a copy of Burt’s book, Brokerage and Closure, which explores how the activity of intersecting social worlds, or brokerage, and the tightening of coordination on a closed network, or closure, work together to define social capital.
Panel members will discuss how they have built successful corporate partnership programs that support increased participation and recruitment in their programs.
In addition, participants will work on developing an action plan with ideas and steps that they can apply when they return to their programs. The day will conclude with a cocktail reception.
Don’t miss an opportunity to focus on issues of concern and network with your peers. Register for the Directors’ Forum on the online registration form.
Register soon, since forum size is limited. The cost for the half-day session, which includes lunch and refreshments, is $195 per participant. Be sure to check the appropriate Event Registration box, as well as the payment box.
